Freddie Mercury(born Farrokh Bulsara 5th of September 1946-24th November 1991)was born in Zanzibar. He was British musican best known as lead vocalist of lead singer, pianist and co-founder of the rock band Queen (inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001). As a performer, he was known for his four-octave vocal range[1][2][3] and onstage theatricality.[4] As a songwriter, he composed many international hits, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "We Are the Champions", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy". In addition to his work with Queen, he also led a solo career with moderate success, and was occasionally a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists. Mercury, who was of Indian Parsi descent and grew up in India, has been referred to as "Britain's first Asian rock star."[5] He died of bronchopneumonia induced by HIV (AIDS) on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease. In 2006, Time Asia named Mercury as one of the most influential Asian heroes of the past 60 years.

Back, all those many years ago, a legend was born, and named Farrokh Bulsara. He was born on September 5th 1946. He was born in a little spice town on the coast of Zanzibar. His father, Bomi Bulsara died when Freddie was only young, leaving his mother, Jer Bulsara, to look after him and his younger sister. When young Farrokh was eight, he left Zanzibar for a eight our trip across water to Bombay, India, from there he took another two hour train trip to St. Peter’s private boy school. It was here where Farrokh adopted the name ‘Freddie’ from his classmates. Soon Freddie found his love for art and music, and by the age of nine, he was taking piano lessons. It was his Nan that found out his amazing skills and potential. But in 1964, due to political upheaval in Zanzibar, Freddie and the rest of his family fled to England... Yes all my own work =]
